Siroperie Meurens Expands Production to Support Solufruit’s International Growth

Siroperie Meurens, the Belgian family-owned company behind Solufruit, is entering a new chapter of its development. A major industrial expansion project is currently underway at its production site in Aubel, Belgium — with the clear objective of increasing production capacity and better supporting food manufacturers across global markets.

As demand for natural fruit-based ingredients continues to rise worldwide, this investment signals a strong commitment to reliability, quality, and long-term partnership with our clients.

A €2 Million Investment in Production Capacity

To respond to the growing global demand for high-quality fruit-based ingredients — including fruit juice concentrates, fruit purées, and dried fruit solutions — Siroperie Meurens has launched a €2 million investment programme focused on modernising its industrial infrastructure.

Food manufacturers increasingly require reliable, scalable supply of natural ingredients that meet clean-label expectations, support product reformulation, and deliver consistent taste and nutritional profiles. This expansion is our response to those needs — ensuring that Solufruit can continue to grow alongside its partners.

1,000 m² Extension and 25 New Processing Tanks

At the heart of this project is the construction of a 1,000 m² production extension, which will house 25 new processing tanks, each with a capacity of approximately 100,000 litres. This represents a significant leap in industrial capability for the Aubel site.

Once completed, this extension will increase Solufruit’s overall production capacity by approximately 30% — enabling faster turnaround times, more flexible batch sizes, and a stronger ability to support food producers of all sizes, whether you are a large-scale manufacturer or a growing challenger brand.

The new tanks will be used across a wide range of applications, supporting the production of fruit-based ingredients for:

  • Bakery and cereal products
  • Snacks and confectionery
  • Dairy and plant-based formulations
  • Sauces and savoury products

Completion of the extension is scheduled for early October 2026 — a strategically important date that aligns with the start of the fresh fruit processing season, which is central to Siroperie Meurens’ consumer brand activities.

A Multi-Year Modernisation Strategy

This extension does not stand alone. It is part of a broader, long-term modernisation strategy that has been unfolding over recent years across the entire production site:

  • 2024: Complete renovation of packaging machines, improving efficiency and flexibility in the conditioning of fruit-based ingredients.
  • 2025: Construction of a new storage hall, securing stock management and improving overall logistics flow.
  • 2026: Construction of a 1,000 m² processing extension with 25 new tanks, bringing the total site area to 15,000 m².

Taken together, these investments reflect a clear ambition: to build one of the most reliable and modern fruit ingredient production sites in Europe, capable of serving an increasingly international client base with consistency and confidence.

Serving Two Complementary Markets

The expanded capacity will benefit both commercial lines operated by Siroperie Meurens. On one hand, Solufruit — the professional fruit-based ingredient brand dedicated to food manufacturers worldwide. On the other, Sirop de Liège — the iconic Belgian consumer brand, well established in local retail, which continues to embody the company’s century-old expertise in natural fruit syrup production.

Both lines share the same commitment to quality, naturalness, and craftsmanship. The new infrastructure will allow the company to serve each market more efficiently, without compromising on the standards that have built its reputation.

Over 100 Years of Expertise — and a Vision for the Next 100

Founded more than a century ago, Siroperie Meurens is today led by its fourth generation. This continuity is a rare asset in the food ingredient industry — and it shapes everything from the way we source raw materials to the way we build relationships with our clients.

As the company prepares to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2027, this investment programme is a powerful statement of intent: combining traditional know-how with technological modernisation and a genuine commitment to long-term sustainability.

For food manufacturers looking for a trusted, long-term partner in natural fruit-based ingredients, Solufruit and Siroperie Meurens are building the foundation for the next century of growth — together.
